I though it was time for an update for those that don’t follow me on social media. Unfortunately my health hasn’t been playing ball for a while so I’ve not been well enough (or felt creative enough) to make jewellery for some time. But I’m back on a roll now and just in time, because… I’m taking part in Portsmouth Open Studios Event (P.O.S.E) this weekend. Not only is this my first open studio experience but I’ll be showcasing some of the first Trash Panda pieces that have come from the workshop that my lovely Crowdfunder patrons helped fund! I’m so excited (and very nervous).

So, if you’re around Portsmouth this weekend I’ll be at 38 Victoria Road North in Southsea – the home of the lovely Louise Pitt – from Friday to Sunday, 10am to 5:30pm.

POSE provides a unique opportunity for you to explore the creative scene within Portsmouth and the surrounding area. This year’s event will feature more than 80 artists across 34 locations, from the Historic Dockyard to the Hilsea Lines. It’s your chance to take a peek behind the scenes and learn more about some of your favourite artists and creative types.

Brought to you by City Arts Portsmouth CIC, the event celebrates both emerging and established creatives, offering an inclusive platform for artists to exhibit and sell their work. In addition to fine art, sculpture, and crafts, visitors will have the chance to experience live talks, demonstrations, music, dance performances, and hands-on workshops, including pottery throwing sessions, printmaking, jewellery making, ceramic hand-built percussion instruments and more. The wide variety of activities highlights the thriving cultural community of the city.

While preparing for the event I’ve been tinkering with various materials to find my stride – beach plastic, industrial rubber, leather offcuts, ex-inflatables, plastic milk bottle tops and sheet music, to name just a few. If you can think of any waste materials that aren’t being recycled where you work or if you’re a member of a gym/bar/club, please let them know about me.
